Swedish massage is the most commonly offered and best-known type of massage. If it's you're first time at the spa, Swedish massage is the perfect place to start. During Swedish massage, massage therapists use massage oils to facilitate smooth, gliding strokes called effleurage. Other classic Swedish massage moves include kneading, friction, stretching and (sometimes) tapping.
Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits. Generally during Swedish massage you're nude underneath a towel or sheet. The therapist uncovers only the part of the body he/she is working on, a technique called "draping". You can keep your underwear on during Swedish massage, and many newcomers do. Feel free to state your preference for pressure during Swedish massage. It can range from light to firm.
Swedish massage usually includes some deeper work on areas of specific muscle tension. If you want more intensive work and firmer pressure, get a deep tissue massage. Swedish massage was pioneered by a Swedish physiologist, Henri Peter Ling, at the University of Stockholm in 1812. It was introduced to the U.S. in 1858 as "The Swedish Movement Cure". Swedish massage is the foundation for other types of Western massage, including sports massage, deep tissue massage and aromatherapy massage.

Hot stone therapy is a highly detoxifying type of massage. The stones themselves actually become the tools that you use, and the heat helps to relax the muscles and assimilate the circulation, allowing the toxins to come up to the surface of the skin. At the same time, we incorporate a Swedish massage technique, or you could also incorporate a Shiatsu Massage, and depending on those two, you can help to release the muscle even further, because of the heat.
The first thing to do is to take a few stones out of the heat. Allow them to cool off a little, and while they are cooling off, some oil may be applied. The hot to warm stones are placed in/on towels, which are placed over the area to be treated, so the hot stones do not make direct contact with the body nor scold any skin, but do their therapuetic work. Like we would do Swedish Massage work, we go right into the muscle tissues and working the muscles as we would with our hands, but with the actual warmth of the stones.
And you have to be mindful when you are working with stones, because the stones are stones, and they are very hard. So you can tend to sometimes go a little too deep, so we always check in with the client, make sure the temperature of the stones and the pressure is okay.We use probably about twenty to twenty-five stones within a session. They vary in size so you can work different areas of the body.
The stones feel so amazing on the feet. On the feet is where we have our reflex points. So basically we have are certain energetic points that are in association with the whole body, mostly the organ systems. We have energetic pathways that are in association with the organ systems that run throughout the whole body. So when you are working the feet it is just complete relaxation. The client can then turn over so we can work the front side of the body.
Stone Therapy is an ancient healing art that was just recently rediscovered. It has been reported in history as far back as ancient Egypt. Egyptians even used heated stones to assist during childbirth. Native Indians of North America have widely used stones during rituals and ceremonies and still use them today in Sweat Lodges The Japanese have also used heated stones for centuries. They were used to alleviate pain by placing them on the troubled areas where they seem to melt away the problem. Russians have used hot stones in their baths. The Hawaiians used the volcanic stones for healing and burial ceremonies.

Chair massage is a great way to introduce people to the benefits of massage and is frequently performed in a public venue or in the workplace. This massage can be performed with the client either seated in a chair or more often in a special massage chair. This chair is lightweight and can be set up in a convenient out of the way area or room for more privacy.
A typical seated massage (as it is often referred to) can last anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes with the most common session lasting 10-15 minutes. The client is fully clothed and cream/lotion is typically not used. The areas worked can focus on the neck, shoulders, back, arms and hands depending on the length of time allowed and preference of the client.
The cumulative effects of stress can lead to various problems which typically manifest themselves in headaches, neck and back pain, anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, inability to concentrate, illness, physical and mental exhaustion, and injuries from repetitive use to name a few. After a chair massage session, the client can leave with less pain, more range of motion, a renewed sense of wellbeing, and feeling less effects from stress.
The Touch Research Institute, University of Miami School of Medicine in Florida, performed a study that showed adults experienced immediate results after receiving chair massage. These results included relaxation, enhanced alertness, increased speed and accuracy on math computations, lower anxiety levels, lower salivary cortisol levels, and lower job stress. It is a small wonder why many in corporate America have added this benefit for their employees – a fifteen minute investment in an employee has benefits that last all day!

Excessive earwax buildup can cause discomfort, headaches, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), or vertigo. Ear Candling may help alleviate these conditions. Also, ear candling may draw out fungus, infection, candida, and other debris from the outer and inner ear canals and the Eustachian tube through osmosis.Ear Candling (also known as coning or ear funneling) has been practiced for centuries. It dates back as far as biblical times when hollow reeds from swamp areas were used. It has been passed down for many generations by the Egyptians, the Oriental and European cultures.
It can be traced back to the ancient times when the Greeks and Egyptians used it as a folk remedy to improve clarity and focus. Ear Candling was also practiced in cultures as diverse as the Tibetan monks and ancient Mayans. The process was basically lost to common knowledge for many years but has come into practice again and is being used by a wide cross section of people. Today, Ear Candling is performed around the world.
